1 – The Battle of Los Angeles

Not long after the attack on Pearl Harbor, all of America was on edge, especially along the West coast. There was a tangible fear that the Japanese would attack again and just about everyone was keeping one eye on the sky for signs of aircraft. One evening mass hysteria took over after a stray weather balloon caused panic. Flares were fired to illuminate potential threats and some saw these as signs of attack and soon anti-aircraft fire filled the night sky. This continued for several nights. No Japanese aircraft were found. Some say that this strange and far fetched tale was in fact a cover up of a UFO invasion.
