You Won’t Believe the Gift This Dying Star Wars Superfan Receives

Daniel Fleetwood, a 32-year-old husband and a resident of Texas, has been declared terminally ill due to Spindle Cell Sarcoma, a rare form of connective tissue cancer. In his very difficult dying moments, he only wishes one thing and that is to watch the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.

Daniel has been a fan of Star Wars since forever. He first fell in love with the film at the age of 8 years old after his father showed him the original Star Wars film. At that very moment, Daniel became a fan. As a matter of fact, he has been collecting all sorts of Star Wars memorabilia and has practically watched all its film franchise. Well, we could almost say that Daniel being a number one fan is an understatement.

Sadly though, Daniel was diagnosed with a terminal disease. Worse, doctors told him that he won’t make it until Christmas. Needless to say, the news broke the man’s heart.

Like most people who have been through the same difficult moment, Daniel also has his own final wish. It doesn’t really sound that fun, but it is the best that every family and friends of a dying man could do: to fulfill his final plea.

As you have already guessed, Daniel’s last wish is to watch the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film. Unfortunately, it looks like Daniel may not make it to the release date of the highly anticipated film. And that is yet another heartache for Daniel.

But as it seems, the angels have heard Daniel’s plea. Millions of people rally through social media for Disney to recognize a dying man’s last wish. It was indeed very overwhelming having people from all parts of the globe using the hashtag “#ForceForDaniel.” Twitter and Facebook users bombarded the social media sites in the hope of fulfilling Daniel’s wish. More than that, it was a call to help Daniel feel happy and inspired and to continue to fight against the treacherous and deadly disease.

And with the grace of the Almighty, people’s initiative to start an online campaign became an overwhelming success. And yes, Disney traveled all the way to Daniel’s house and delivered the unedited version of the new Star Wars film! Needless to say, Daniel was more than happy that Disney didn’t fail to make dreams come true.

According to TMZ, “Daniel’s wife, Ashley, tells us he loved the movie. She can’t say much more because she had to sign a confidentiality agreement. She says they watched on their own TV, but it was played from Disney’s equipment — gotta make sure the flick doesn’t get jacked. Abrams put in a phone call to Daniel before they rolled the movie, which Ashley says really made Daniel’s day.”

It was indeed a very heartwarming act of kindness. And to top all that, Daniel received a phone call from director J.J. Abrams. Daniel expressed his gratitude to Abrams and thanked him for making his last few days very memorable.

The stars of the film, including Mark Hamill and John Boyega, also expressed their support for Daniel. They retweeted a Tweet about the online campaign and hoped to bring the “Force for Daniel.”

According to Daniel, “I just love Star Wars. With everything I got, I love Star Wars.”

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. On Monday, the doctors announced that 90% of Daniel’s lungs are now filled with cancer. As of this very moment, the big Star Wars fan is spending his last moments with his family. It is a great thing that in the midst of his illness and suffering, the world has made painted a smile on Daniel’s face.
