The trailer of suicide squad
What a wonderful trailer…
The film Suicide Squad shows off another impressive Trailer. The year 2016 is shaping up to be a very interesting year for the comic book superhero genre. We have seen Deadpool set some box office records on the other hand. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens to a ton of discussion and mixed reception with The Captain America: Civil War headed our way next month on the back of some early rave reviews. The one to be most intrigued by and anticipate is Suicide Squad for many though since it is a villain centric spinoff from what DC and Warner Brothers is doing with their Cinematic Universe.
The first few Trailers have been great and just this week another new one came down the pike showing off some very fun looks at the film.
For those who have never heard of Suicide Squad ever, it is of course a comic book adaptation surrounding a government agency that recruits currently imprisoned supervillains to participate in black ops missions in exchange for clemency on their sentences. The films writer is David Ayer and he directs as well. Its cast includes Jared Leto as Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana and many more. There are also cameos from Ben Affleck as Batman and potentially Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor with others possibly showing up too.
The setting in the same universe that DC/WB is creating to lead up to a Justice League film, and highlighted by the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as Affleck’s stand alone Batman movie. It surely has a solid filmmaker and a very strong cast in place plus cinematography from Roman Vasyanov. The score is from Steven Price so we can say that there’s plenty here to work with on all ends.
The latest Trailer aims for a bit of a lighter tone than previously while still showcasing a real grittiness that should encompass the project. Of particular note are Leto’s Joker and Robbie’s Harley Quinn though Davis’ Amanda Waller has potential as well to be a memorable character. Factor in how strong a filmmaker Ayer is a director and writer who shoots for the moon each and every time out so letting him loose in this genre could lead to some crazy things. We can already see in these Trailers that the interplay between characters should be strength. This is honestly just sort of shows how Ayer likely would have been a better choice than Zack Snyder for these DC movies so far. This film should be a blast when it opens at the end of the summer.
He really could be in for a special kind of a treat with Suicide Squad come August overall. There be a ton more to talk about with this one before that though as well so sit tight in that regard.
