Learn About the Little Girl Who Was Born With Her Heart On The Outside of Her Chest
Virsaviya “Bathsheba” Borun-Goncharova, a six-year-old girl from Russia, has been battling her entire life. She was born with a very rare congenital disorder called Pentalogy of Cantrell, which affects less than one in a million births. And the effects? A child is born with both heart and intestines outside the chest and abdomen. Sadly, one angel has been struck with this disorder.
As gleaned from the photos, Virsaviya’s heart, about the size of a fist, can be seen beating outside her chest with only a layer of skin for protection. Needless to say, this depicts a very alarming situation especially for a little girl.
The moment Dari delivered her lovely daughter, she was told that her child wouldn’t make it even for a day. She was warned that little Virsaviya wouldn’t survive that long. The news broke her heart, but she remained steadfast and strong for her little one. And six years later, Visrasaviya is still breathing and very much alive.
As a matter of fact, young Virsaviya is a very cheerful girl. According to Crowdfunding, Virsaviya is fond of ponies and dolphins and loves to draw, sing and guess what? She can dance! Other than that, the little girl can easily do splits despite her condition. Isn’t she amazing? Well, let’s just say that the little angel has become a strong warrior.
“I like to draw Jesus, ponies and angels,” said Virsaviya. “I don’t go to the school and I don’t go to the ballet but I want to do it at home. My heart is right here. It’s outside of my chest and I really love my mom, she’s always touching my heart because she likes it.”
Dari sought for help from different hospital from around the world. Her sole plea is for Virsaviya to undergo surgery and somehow fix her condition. Dari realized that it is a huge and risky undertaking, but like all mothers on the planet, she only wants what is best for her daughter. Sadly though, Dari’s request has been incessantly turned down due to difficulties and high risks of surgery.
The mother and daughter tandem has traveled long miles for their journey. In fact, they have recently moved from Russia to America in the hope of having a treatment for little Virsaviya. They visited Boston Children’s Hospital but were again turned down because Virsaviya’s aortic blood pressure was too high for surgery. Fortunately though, the said hospital said that they were willing to help, but it would still take two years of medication for her blood pressure to go down.
Now, the family has turned their eye to Hollywood in the hope that they can acquire treatment and medication for little Virsaviya. The waiting game is on to prepare her for surgery, which would likely require very complicated operations.
As it seems, we are looking at a brighter future for the little girl. Dari’s hope of treatment has finally been granted, but the road is still too long for little Virsaviya. The urgency of her needs cannot be overemphasized. And for those with hearts of gold, you can still extend your love for little Virsaviya in your own little way.
Despite her illness, it is great seeing that the little girl doesn’t feel sorry about herself. As a matter of fact, Virsaviya takes a different route in dealing with her situation and amazingly sees things in a very philosophical way. She told NBC News, “I know why I have heart outside, because Jesus want to show that he can make special things like me.”
