13 Shocking Secrets About Space
Many, many, many years ago, we’ve always wanted to know if there was life outside of Earth, and now we do. Once we managed to land on the moon, we’ve become more curious on how far we can go. But there are some things we know about space that we just don’t know whether it is true or not.
We can only hope in, maybe a few more years, despite our technology becoming more and more advanced in a shorter period of time.
1. The Dead Cosmonaut
Back in the 1960’s, the space race was being held as both the U.S and the Soviet Union were trying to see who among them would be able to get further into exploring space. In 1957 however, the Soviet Union had already launched the very first man-made satellite called Sputnik, and in 1961, their own Yuri Gagarin became the first person to go into space.
Although we know this as a fact, two brothers from Italy, the Judica-Cordiglia brothers, said that Yuri Gagarin wasn’t the first. Weeks before Gagarin’s launch into space, the Judica-Cordiglia brothers, by setting up a listening station in their home country to obstruct transmissions between the ground and spaceship operations for both the U.S and the Soviet Union, they had apparently detected and even recorded some radio transmissions of a cosmonaut slowly dying while drifting in space.
Of course, the Soviet Union had denied their claim, but people who believe this, think that the Soviet government concealed this information to keep their country’s image as the leader in space exploration intact. It’s safe to say they wanted to keep their bragging rights.
