19 Biggest Architecture Fails In The World
Nowadays you have to go through a rigorous seven years of university to qualify as an architect and though this might seem like a crazy amount of time it’s definitely worthwhile because history has taught us the deadly results of bad architecture. Here’s some examples of the best and worst:
1. St. Francis DamSource: en.wikipedia.org
The collapse of the St. Francis dam in 1928 killed over 600 people, making it the second greatest disaster in California behind the San Fransisco 1906 Earthquake. The dam broke apart due to an unstable base, cracking which was ignored and additions which increased the water capacity. When the dam broke it released 12 billion gallons of water travelling at 5mph over two miles wide. Reports show that The Department of Water and Power deemed the dam safe even after a new leak had sprung.
