Her guns fire bullets, not tampons. Can you guess which character we’re talking about here? Anyone?

Marvel fans everywhere have been spoiled over recent years by the outstanding films that have been released and it doesn’t look to stop anytime soon. In response to a question posed to Marvel they have said that their current plans all the way up to 2019 have already been released and planned and they have no intention of changing what’s already set till then as of right now. They did however state that out of all the characters up for a solo film consideration, Black Widow is the one most likely to happen in the foreseeable future.

We’ve announced the next nine movies, 10 counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.”

Marvel seems quite invested in developing Black Widow more and see a lot of potential for Natasha Romanoff to have her own feature film sometime in the future. That’s no small part due to Scarlett Johansson’s phenomenal casting in the role as Natasha. This also isn’t the first announcement of some of Marvels female heroes seeing their own roles beginning to stand out more.

Ant-Man and The Wasp along with Captain Marvel have already promised an increase in the prominence of female characters in their story lines. Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Captain America: Civil War expressed their own interest in seeing a film featuring Natasha sometime in the future.

They said on the subject earlier this year, “We find that the character is one of the richest, if not the richest, character in the Marvel universe, she’s a very complex character. She’s haunted by demons and her understanding of the world is fascinating. I think there is a lot that can be done with that character.

It might not even be too far of a stretch for fans to expect to see the film directed by those two if it does come about. Johansson has yet to mention anything about the possibility as she’s currently very busy already with her role to be played in Captain America: Civil War. Fans will just have to wait and see what develops in the coming years as Marvel surely has their hands full already.
