The “Dancing With The Stars” Premiere

What a wonderful night!!!

Three participants tied for first place after ‘Dancing With the Stars’ premiere. They are Nyle DiMarco, Ginger Zee and Wanya Morris who all tied for first place. NFL players Antonio Brown and Von Miller also showed off their sweet moves. One judge said Marla Maples may have found her calling. Nyle DiMarco who was the America’s Next Top Model is completely deaf which makes his steamy cha-cha on “Dancing With the Stars” night that much more impressive on Monday. DiMarco blew away the crowd with his performance on the season 22 premiere as he can’t hear sound or even feel its vibrations. DiMarco signed and said it is actually Peta, referring to his partner professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd and added he follow her eyes.

DiMarco along ABC meteorologist Ginger Zee and Boyz II Men singer Wanya Morris all tied for first place with 23 out of 30 points from the judges in the two-hour premiere last Monday night. This season’s reality dance competition features a mix of 12 athletes and singers along with semi-famous actors and news people. The celebrities are paired with professional dancers who teach their stars how to dance and choreograph the routines along the way. New mom Zee’s delightful jive with pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy had Carrie Ann Inaba comparing her to season 21 winner Bindi Irwin while usually stern chief judge Len Goodman called her a ray of sunshine on the dance floor. And Morris showed that he could cha-cha to one of his group’s hits Motownphilly with pro partner Lindsay Arnold. Inaba said he is a total twinkle toes on the dance floor.

We should not count out the NFL roster on the show too. Denver Broncos player Von Miller and Pittsburgh Steelers player Antonio Brown tied for second place with 21 as well. They are magic as Inaba told Brown who was paired with pro Sharna Burgess and danced a complicated quickstep. Judge Bruno Tonioli told Maples that dancing might be her calling all along. Kim Fields who was a former child stars and Jodie Sweetin impressed the judges with their energy and power scoring 20 points each.

Toward the bottom of the scale was retired football player and fan favorite Doug Flutie who is paired with pro Karina Smirnoff and their foxtrot scored only 15 points. He surely will need viewer calls to stay in the competition.

Mischa Barton who stars ‘The O.C.’ seemed to lack energy in her routine and also scored 15 points. Fox correspondent Geraldo Rivera earned just 13 points which is the lowest score of the night. Tonioli said that maybe they are not going to dance next week.

Each couple danced a cha-cha, a foxtrot, a jive, tango or quickstep in the first show and judged this season by ballroom expert Goodman and dancers/choreographers Tonioli and Inaba. They also competed for votes from viewers even if no couples were eliminated on week one of the competition. One dance pair will win the Mirrorball trophy after weeks of competition
