1. Short History of How Cuba Was Formed


Cuba was first colonized by Spain and remained as a Spanish colony until the after the Spanish-American War. With Spain’s imminent defeat, they initiated a peace process on December 1898 where the Americans were given control of Puerto Rico, Guam, Philippines and Cuba. The said agreement was contained in the Treaty of Paris and was signed by Spain and the United States. In 1902, control over Cuba was passed to the native government seeing that they were ready to administer themselves.
