Harry Potter Fans Rejoice! JK Rowling Announces the Eighth Book for Beloved Magical Series

The “boy who lived” has transfigured into the “boy who lived in the hearts of millions” since the Harry Potter series became a cultural phenomenon. In fact, even after the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2”, which was supposed to be the final movie in the series, the franchise lived on, much like how the young wizard protagonist survived an attack from the Dark Lord.

Harry Potter 1

Through the website Pottermore, author JK Rowling was able to expand the world of Harry Potter’s magical universe, giving fans never-before-seen bits of trivia, plot lines, and facts.

And while we were all satisfied by how she managed to engage her audience long after her final Harry Potter novel was published, we were all still secretly hoping that she would release one last book – one last novel that was considered canon.

The “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” served as a sort of follow up to the story, but at the end of the day it was just a canon spin-off. We wanted a continuation of Harry Potter’s story – particularly, what happened to him after vanquishing Lord Voldemort.

The good news is we’re finally getting it!

Yes, you can stop scratching your eyes now. JK Rowling has confirmed that an eight novel will be published entitled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! The author explains that it only came together because some people made it happen. The eight installment in the novel series will come in the form of a play. But soon enough, Rowling realized that a lot of her fans will not be able to watch it live, so she decided to release the script in the form of a novel. It will be available in both print and e-book versions, and the fans are going crazy over it!

Harry Potter 2

The story was approved by Rowling after it was pitched to her by Jack Thorne (who wrote the plays, both part 1 and 2) and John Tiffany, who will be directing the production.

The Cursed Child’s website has released the official synopsis and it will revolve around Harry and Ginny’s middle child, Albus Severus Potter.

It read: “It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

Rowling said that she’s “confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way.”

The actors who will portray the main characters in the play have also been revealed: Harry will be played by Jamie Parker, Hermione by Noma Dumezweni, and Ron by Paul Thornley. They will portray middle-aged versions of the character.

The published script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be released on July 31, and just like you, we are dying to get our hands on it.
